The Grand Canyon is truly awe-inspiring. There are no words to describe the sense of scale as you stand along the South Rim and peer into the canyon below. Was the canyon carved as a result of receding water after Noah's flood? Did the water flows from the great flood also carve Monument Valley in Utah/Arizona? The immense scale of these sculptures makes me realize how small and insignificant I am in comparison to the greatness of God. And yet, God loves me and wants me to know Him!
This photo was taken in December at sunset at one of the lookout points along the South Rim. Due to recent rains, the visibility at the Grand Canyon was excellent. If you look at the horizon in the center of the image, you will see the last bit of sunlight on the distant canyon wall. The last 30 minutes before sunset or after sunrise is what photographers call sweet light, when the landscape takes on a beautiful warm or pink glow.
